There are three ways we can work together:
A 3hr consultation, design recommendation and illustration.
A creative garden refresh proposal.
Produce a complete garden design package.
One: A 3hr consultation and recommendations.
With this option, I will visit for an hour to learn about your preferences and hopes for your garden, then follow-up with a set of recommendations to meet your needs. This could be about reviving a planting bed, designing an area to eat together, or creating more privacy. I will also provide a sketch to show you what the changes could look like. The cost of this option is between £200 - £300.
If you would like to learn more about this option, please book an introductory call using this form.
Two: A creative garden refresh proposal.
If you would like design ideas to give your garden a lift, then this is the best option. I will visit you to get to know more about you and your garden. We will then be able to work out what design work will meet your needs. It may be as simple as a few photos and measurements for me to produce a to-scale design that landscaper or gardener can use (and provide reliable quotes for) to make the changes you’d like to see.
Complete this form or call me on 0794 942 1035 to find out more about a garden refresh.
Three: Garden design and build package
Stage 1: Developing your design brief
Like options one and two, we begin with a conversation to learn about you, your dream garden, current challenges and constraints. We would talk about things like the time you have for gardening, the plants you love, where in the garden you want to sit on summer evenings, where your children might want to play, and so on. At this point I discover more about your soil, water, sun, wind, views, and so on.
Next I will produce your Garden Design Proposal’, and walk you through it during a follow up call or visit. This is the brief, and describes your hopes and needs, explains the process, shows you images or mood boards which help imagine your wonderful new garden. This plan includes the design service fee.
Stage 2: Concept development and master planning
I will create the first concept for your new garden design, in the form of an A3 document for you to keep. It includes an illustrated master plan of your new garden, 3D illustrations and elevations to bring the design to life, a plant palette and plans, and pages for materials, furniture and lighting, as required. We will sit down together to review and refine the design, and finalise is based on your budget. If you want to spread the cost and / or work to build your new garden over time, then we will talk about this too. Once you have agreed to the final design, I will focus on producing detailed drawings for contractors to produce reliable quotes.
Stage 3: Finalising costs, planting and construction details
At this stage I produce a schedule of work and set of detailed design drawings to provide reliable cost estimates. Usually, I work with a local skilled and experienced landscaper, but if preferred I will manage the tendering process. With the full cost estimate, construction details and timings confirmed, we can finalise your the schedule for building and planting your new garden.
Stage 4: Project monitoring
My role in this stage is about quality control, and helping to make sure any issues that might come up are dealt with to your satisfaction. Having worked for many years as a professional project manager, I know how to make sure that this stage goes as smoothly as possible.
And finally:
Finally, to help you enjoy your garden I will produce your ‘Garden Maintenance Plan’, which sets out in a clear format what you need to do to keep your garden looking good all year round. From when to dead head and how to prune, when to mulch, and what plant problems to look out for. The level of detail is up to you, and is based on your preferred approach to gardening.
You can now sit back and enjoy your lovely garden with family and friends, knowing that it will be much loved for years to come.
